Carter grew up as one of the few girls at Alpine. She spent eleven summers at neighboring Camp DeSoto for Girls, the last three on staff including her final summer as Assistant Program Director. Carter brings unmatched fun and creativity to camp and believes strongly in carrying out the mission of camp that was begun by her family over 50 years ago. As a mom she understands a mother’s unique concerns for her children. She loves to talk with other moms who have special questions about their sons.

Two years after graduation from the University of Mississippi he realized his dream of starting a Christian camp, opening Alpine Camp for Boys in June of 1959. Mr. O has been at Alpine every summer since, serving as Director until 2006.
